ARKANSAS Public Death Records

The constantly increasing files of death records in the Arkansas Department of Health go all the way back in February 1, 1914 and up to the present. However, the Department does not really have the actual certificates of all the death listings between 1914 and 1949, which it keeps in alphabetic listing in the Arkansas History Commission. In addition, the Department only has a limited set of death certificates from 1881 to 1914 that occurred in Little Rock and Fort Smith.

In any case, the death records filed in Arkansas are kept there for whatever benefit the public may have use for it, such as statistics, research and genealogy. They are available for issue upon complying with the requirements and a set procedure.

The laws in Arkansas provide that death certificates cannot be released to the public if the documents are less than 50 years old, except to those who are related to the registrant, representing him or her, or are members of a research group, or other persons who can prove that they have right to access such records.

Like in most states, you need to supply the basic necessary information of the deceased, state your reasons for acquiring the record, and providing the payment for the necessary fees, which should come with a fully accomplished request form.

Start Your preliminary search by filling the the form at the top of the page and see if there's a record available for your query.

ARKANSAS Death Certificates

As much as possible the documents issued by the Arkansas Division of Vital Records are certified copies of the original, produced in paper form.

Each initial copy of the death certificate will cost $10. And if you would like to have additional copies following that one, then you would have to pay $8 for every subsequent copy requested at the same time as the first one (meaning, if you apply for another set of copies some other time, you pay another $10 again).

There are also additional costs, such as the $10 search fee for records that cannot be found. This amount, however, is refundable if not used or partially used. But the refund, however, is not available if you use the Express Service with a credit card. It is non-refundable along with the Express Service fee.

Fill out the Arkansas Death Certificate Mail-in form and post it to the following address:
