Death records, along with other vital documents, that contain records and information on events which occurred within the state of Maryland are physically filed in the Vital Statistics Administration of Maryland. They issue certified copies of death certificates dated from 1969 and after. You may be able to request for a copy of this certificate if you are one of the following persons: (1) relative of the deceased, (2) an authorized representative of such relative, (3) the funeral director who took charge of the disposition of the body of the deceased, (4) any other individual who has legal interest and need to acquire the certificate, and (5) the court. Application for death records filed in Maryland is easy. First, you need to download the Application for a Copy of Death Certificate from the official website of the vital statistics administration of Maryland and fill it up. Along with that you need to be able to present either a valid and government-issued photo ID that includes a date of the ID's expiration date or two alternative documents. If you apply for a death certificate and you don't present your valid photo ID you will not be able to get the document you requested within the same day. Instead, the requested documents will be mailed to you using the address which appears in the documents that were provided. The Vital Records office is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM from Mondays to Fridays, not counting holidays.
